This lovable acoustic band creates a sound as familiar as the thoughts inside your head. A unique mixture of Classic Country and lighthearted musical theater, their music is stripped down to basics and complemented with their intricate and flowing harmonies. At the core of the band is the partnership of The Lovebirds themselves, Jason W. McKinzie and Amy Celeste Young-Beard. Their chemistry is evident immediately, and their performances are a cool refreshing breeze.The Lovebirds possess an extensive repertoire of original and cover songs, including Americana, Classic Country, Oldies, Folk and Traditional. Set lists are crafted specifically for each performance, factoring in both the venue and the audience. Scott Powers on banjo and mandolin and Sabhaois (pronounced "savage") serve to round out this classic timeless sound.The term "Americana" is fairly loose, encompassing many aspects of art and culture. The Lovebirds are an amalgam of Americana, and share their experience of it all through the eyes of love and humor. Their chemistry is evident immediately, and their performances are a cool refreshing breeze. Jason W. McKinzieJason W. McKinzie follows in the tradition of tunesmiths throughout time immemorial, dipping his musical cup gratefully into the river of those who have come before him. Genres are no obstacle for this composer. Walls are meant for climbing, and the illusory walls of art are no exception.Jason W. McKinzie has been involved in the writing and recording of music since his earliest days. A Hoosier by birth, surrounded by the beautiful corn fields of Indiana, into a family whose roots in that area span generations, Jason has always been attracted to a simple and natural way of life. Son of a career Navy man, Jason got plenty of world-traveling under his belt at an early age. As a boy, piling into the VW bus in the mountains of Spain with his parents and older brother might lead to a trip through Portugal or France, depending on the season. It was this early exposure to the Old World that inspired in Jason a world-consciousness that persists to this day.Jason has released many albums covering a variety of musical genres. Notable among them are 2008'′s “inexpugnable”, an experiment in electronica covering the arc of human life, and 2009'′s PUTRIS, a ‘return-to-roots’ punk album featuring 14 original head-bashing anthems with subject matter ranging from horror movie plots to the last thoughts of a convicted serial killer on death row.Since 2009 Jason has been focusing on The Americana Lovebirds, featuring himself and partner-in-all-things Amy Celeste Young-Beard. These lovebirds are currently delving and burrowing into the roots of American music to create a timeless amalgam with their own inimitable twist.
Amy Celeste Young-BeardAmy Celeste Young-Beard has long been involved with the writing and performing of soulful, heartfelt music of many varied styles, and her captivating voice has been described as heavenly. Years of immersion in traditional and non-traditional art has helped hone her unique presence.Born in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada her ancestry roots spread all over the world. Ranging from Pennsylvania Dutch to the Black Forest Area of Germany, Shropshire and Liverpool England, venturing even further then to France, ultimately to the North Carolina’s of the United States where here her ancestry cocktail continues with the the pride of Cherokee Indian blood coursing through her veins. Her immediate family’s roots reach far out to the heart of Missouri. Amy grew up in a family that traveled a lot. A tune always entertaining her mind, she has been singing and writing songs since she was a little girl. She discovered a great joy in singing: alone, with her family, or performing with the children’s choir in grand theatrical events at her parent’s church. Her major role models even to this day are the movies “Hello, Dolly!”, “Mary Poppins”, and all of the “I love Lucy” shows. They all had a tremendous impact on how and who she wanted to be and is. As a middle child she often found herself sandwiched between her younger brother and older sister in the back seat of the family’s station wagon. Mom and dad sat up front showing them all the great sights and sounds of their international travels. Family trips in that car were always filled with songs. Amy’s main influence in her music even to this day derive from those special times. From old folk tunes to uplifting spirituals the family of five would venture on their way in multi-part harmonies and smiles.Amy happily continues her music in that harmony-filled folksy vein both with her solo projects and with her partner in all things Jason W. Mckinzie in their band The Americana Lovebirds.

Sabhaois (pronounced "savage") is a fifteenth century Irish Gaelic name chosen to suit his medieval persona and American Indian roots. As a teenager he would spend many a weekend night sitting round with his father, who was a basic rhythm guitarist and had a love for country music of the Hank Williams era, singing old country standards. True to his, “"I don't like boxes”" view of life he has played with many bands in a four state area of Maryland, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia, covering musical genres that include, alternative, bluegrass, blues, classic rock, country, folk, hard rock, pop and southern rock. Sabhaois is also an accomplished and award-winning swordsman.
Scott Powers has been banjo-pickin’ for over twenty years, from his beginnings in Pennsylvania to his travels down Virginia'’s Eastern Shore. Scott has played with a number of varied bands, including Rock Creek Bluegrass Band, Down Home Pickers Gospel Band, TPP Pickers, Saltgrass Band and Hungers Creek Bluegrass Band. Scott'’s influences include Ricky Skaggs, Ralph Stanley, Larry Sparks and Earl Scruggs, as well as continuing to allow his own unique approach to evolve. Scott is thrilled to be a part of The Americana Lovebirds Band, and looks forward to injecting his inspired playing into their performances. Scott'’s banjo can most recently be heard on Lisa Stevens'’ 2010 release "“Hope Will Survive"”. Scott also plays mandolin and guitar.
